Rose Canyon Ultra
The Rose Canyon Ultra uses the best trails in the Rose, Butterfield, and Yellow Fork Canyon areas. This rugged and beautiful area will leave you wanting to come back over and over.
This race starts at the new Butterfield Trailhead Regional Park. Amazing area nestled right at the base of Butterfield Canyon with Kennecott Mine overlooking the area. This course is stunning. From the gnarly ridges to the smooth single track trails winding through beautiful meadows and amazing dense foliage. We believe this race will become a must do for every Ultra Runner.
At the end of it all we believe you will love this race and all of its diversity. Our only regret is we can't be out there running it with you. Be sure to check out the photos as well as the course map link below for more details on this beautiful course.

*We strongly recommend getting your bib the day before to avoid lines in the morning (especially 50 miler and 50k). You already have enough to worry about in the morning, get your bib the day before! A friend or family member can do this for you as well.
We recommend all runners arrive at least 45 minutes early to ensure a stress free and smooth start. Pre-race announcement 15 minutes before each start time.
Swag
Runners will receive a high quality race shirt and a custom locally made finishers medal.
Post Race Breakfast and Lunch
We will have cookies and pumpkin chocolate chip bread from Great Harvest Bread! We will also have chocolate milk, orange juice, and bananas.
Around 11 we will order pizza and soda for all you runners out there still enjoying the course. We will have the pizza delivered every 2 hours approximately so you aren't getting super old pizza if you finish later in the day. Also the race director, if he doesn't eat every 2 hours he gets cranky.
Awards
Overall male and female will receive a custom locally made plaque for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Salt Lake Running Company will provide 1st place with gift cards as well!
All finishers will receive a custom locally made finisher medal
Free Photos
Xotio Media will be taking photos. Photos will be hosted on their website providing easy access for downloads using bib recognition. We will NOT put a logo or watermark on your picture. Instead of ruining your picture with our logo we would rather rely on you telling your friends and family about our races!
Finish Line
Awards ceremony will be held when we have our winners. We will also have a Photo backdrop for pictures with friends.
Aid Stations
Aid stations will have Tailwind for the electrolyte drink (caffeine and non caffeine), water, Honey Stinger gels/waffles, fruit, coke/ginger ale, and an assortment of whatever looks good at Costco that the race director wants an excuse to eat. This usually at least includes chips, candy, rice krispies, hostess products, trail mix, granola bars, and uncrustables.
Butterfield Aid Station for the 50 miler has extremely limited parking. Crew are not allowed at this aid station and will be asked to leave. Our permits depend on it.
Yellow Fork Aid Station for the 50 miler, 50k, and 30k located at the Yellow Fork Trailhead has plenty of parking. Crew are welcome to come hang out with us at the aid station and cheer you on.
Navigation
Course is well marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals. The flagging will come before, during, and after the turn. This flagging will be on the same side of the trail as the turn. For example, a right turn will have flagging on the right side of the trail before and after the right turn.
We will only mark turns, trail changes or areas we feel need it. If you come to an intersection or see a trail branching off the main trail and there are no flags stay on the same trail and continue straight. This course will be well marked.
Pacers and Drop Bags
Pacers are allowed for the 50 miler only beginning at the Yellow Fork Aid Station. For 50 mile runners this is mile 31.4, 37.2, and 42.1.
One drop bag is allowed at Butterfield Peak Trailhead for 50 mile runners. This is mile 10.8, 17.9, and 22.9 for the 50 mile runners.
One drop bag is allowed at Yellow Fork Aid Station for ALL runners. For 50k runners this is mile 11.1, 17, and 21.8. For 30k runners this is mile 11.1.
Please see course map on website for more details.
Drop bags need to be brought to start of race Saturday morning. We will NOT take them at check in Friday.
We will bring drop bags back to the finish line every couple of hours. You must place your drop bag in the bin we will have set out letting us know you are finished using it. If you do not do this you will have to either wait until after 7 pm when the aid station closes or drive to the aid station (15 minutes from finish) and retrieve the bag yourself.
Please be reasonable on drop bag size. Don't be that person who shows up looking like you are at the airport.
Parking
Free parking and lots of it. Please follow the event parking signs to park in the native grass event parking area.
Cutoffs
50 Miler follows a 20 minute mile cutoff
50k follows a 21m 30s mile cutoff
30k follows a 30m mile cutoff
These cutoffs are for the runners safety and permitting needs, see course map for specific times
